Text Box: May 18, 2012 Friday 4th Grade 4th graders took their spelling test and then watched part of the Muppet movie. Have a great weekend! 6th Grade 6th graders had a challenge day today. The two teams tied at Wack a Mole. Have a nice weekend. 8th Grade 8th graders took their vocabulary test and watched part of the Muppet movie. :) Have a nice weekend! 7th Grade 7th graders took their vocabulary test and read in Where the Red Fern Grows. They need to read to the end of chapter 12 on their own. Have a great weekend! ________________________________________________________ May 17, 2012 Thursday 4th Grade 4th graders started off with their regular Thursday morning meeting. We then moved on to Vocabulary in the Round and present tense verbs. Quite a few kids left this morning because they were off to see their younger siblings graduate from preschool. :) While they were gone we had several rounds of spelling bees. Spelling test tomorrow. 6th Grade 6th graders waited patiently while two students took their MAZE test. Our video on ranching would not play properly so they talked me into some more of “Out of the Wild Alaska.” :) No homework. 8th Grade 8th graders had Vocabulary in the Round for the last time this year. They have their vocabulary test tomorrow. 7th Grade 7th graders had their last Vocabulary in the Round for this year. They have their vocabulary test tomorrow. ________________________________________________________ May 16, 2012 Wednesday 4th Grade 4th graders worked on spelling today in between being called back for reading groups. Most of the kids also had small projects to research on the computer. 6th Grade 6th graders took their MAZE test today and then worked on effective debating. This one is a work in progress. :) 8th Grade 8th graders took their MAZE test and finished Flowers for Algernon. The kids also have a note with some information that Mrs. Bell sent me about the parent meeting last week. Vocabulary in the Round tomorrow. 7th Grade 7th graders took their MAZE test and read in Where the Red Fern Grows. Vocabulary in the Round tomorrow. ________________________________________________________ May 15, 2012 Tuesday 4th Grade 4th graders read “Saguaro Cactus” today and worked on vocabulary. We also worked on comprehension, alphabetizing, and cursive. 6th Grade 6th graders read some expository nonfiction about cowboys and a ranch. :) Just about everyone in class could have written that information by themselves. It led to some great discussion. :) No homework. 8th Grade 8th graders received their vocabulary lists today. They have a quiz tomorrow over everything we’ve read up to page 216. All of the kids also picked out a piece of tag board for their graduation collage. 7th Grade 7th graders read in Where the Red Fern Grows received their vocabulary list for the week. Quiz tomorrow over chapters 6– 10. ________________________________________________________ May 14, 2012 Monday 4th Grade 4th graders took their spelling pretest this morning and everyone was sent home with this week’s spelling list. The test will be on Friday. We also took our last MAZE test for the year. After a little work on corrections, we heard everyone’s “rice” story. Some of them were pretty interesting. :) 6th Grade 6th graders watched “Out of the Wild Venezuela “ due to everyone being gone to the track meet. 8th Grade 8th graders also watched “Out of the Wild Venezuela” due to everyone being gone to the track meet. 7th Grade 7th graders watched “Out of the Wild Venezuela” due to everyone being gone to the track meet. ________________________________________________________ May 11, 2012 Friday 4th Grade 4th graders had a fireman’s breakfast/lunch/dinner this morning. :) We managed to get in our spelling test and then we had to run over to the high school for a chorale presentation.
